You are cordially invited to join us as our Honorees at Dixie’s 2013 Homecoming on Friday, October 25th! As has been tradition for the past twelve years or so, the festivities will begin with a pre-game dinner at 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in our cafeteria – we call it “A Taste of Dixie.” This year students from Dixie’s impressive Culinary Arts Academy will be preparing and serving our dinner – this is a great opportunity for them to showcase their skills and for YOU to discover another reason to be very proud of our alma mater! Tickets for the dinner are $10 per person and we would like to sell as many as possible in advance so we have a realistic idea of how many people we will have. You may purchase them at Dixie in the front office or you can e-mail me to let me know you are coming and I can have your tickets reserved for you at the door. (If you happen to know any of the girls basketball players, they are selling them, too!)
The Homecoming Game follows on Lawson Field at 7:30 where the Rebels will face off with the St. Pete Green Devils! The Homecoming King and Queen will be announced during the half-time activities. Tickets may be purchased at the gate.
Please make sure to sign the alumni register during the evening. During the dinner it will be in the cafeteria. During the game it will be at the Alumni table inside the gates.
Also, please make sure to pass the word along to other Dixie alumni. While we do know how to contact several hundred alums, that is only a fraction of those who are out there! We will be taking pictures of alumni at these events that will be included in our yearbook and in our new Dixie magazine. We’d like your smiling mug to be among them!
As you know, I’ve been doing this for many years now. but things have really changed around Dixie recently. Our not-so-new-anymore principal, Dr. Dan Evans, is a Dixie grad himself (Class of 1986), and he is ALL OVER wanting to gather the alumni together! He is helping put together a program during the pre-game dinner and is planning gifts for those who attend – you need to come out to meet this guy if for no other reason! He is truly an amazing asset to our school… Every facet of Dixie has changed for the better! It is GREAT to have a leader who is personally invested in our school. And I want him to meet YOU all! If you are a “regular,” please plan to join us again! If you have never come before, well, what are you waiting for? We’ve been looking for you! Come spend a few hours with us! (Don’t worry – I always bring name tags so you won’t be embarrassed when you don’t remember someone’s name…)
Just for fun I am copying the message I received from Dan last week urging me to invite all of you. If you have any questions, call me at (727) 347-9662 – you’ll probably have to leave a message but I WILL call you back. Or you can call Dixie at 727-547-7876.
We are excited to announce that our annual Taste of Dixie Dinner will be geared toward our awesome Dixie Alumni as we welcome them back on campus for Homecoming.
